MATT RICE

creative director / editor / story instigator

Matt Rice is an Emmy-winning filmmaker with fifteen years of documentary-style editing to his name. He is currently Creative Director at Blueline, a Bloomington-based commercial and documentary film company.

There, Matt leads a team that translates experiences into cinematic moments. Clients include academic institutions (Rose Hulman, the IU School of Medicine), household-name consumer brands (Microsoft, TikTok, and Iam’s), and HackerOne, which had led Matt to follow ethical hackers around the planet as they help the world’s biggest companies perfect their cybersecurity.

Play is part of the translation process and has served a key role in shaping Matt’s creative approach, as his work in comedy and improv testifies. In the recent past, Matt has worked with Second City and Improv Olympic in Chicago and has taught skit-based comedy to kids at Constellation Stage and Screen.

“Everyone has a story in them worthy of a bestseller,” Matt reflects. “My passion is serving as a narrative translator, offering people a playful space to frame their experiences and spotlight their truth by cinematizing their story.”
